1.5.5 Application to Grade
Before members undergo a grading examination, they are required to fill in a Grading Application Form and submit it to the examining body with the correct examination fee for the grade being attempted, prior to the closing time for grading applications.
The following procedural steps are to be followed.
- A Grading Application Form (AKR form and examining bodies application form) is to be completed by the applicant.
- The forms are to be authorised and signed by the senior instructor of the applicants club or dojo, where appropriate.
- The forms are then sent to the applicants affiliated state or territory association for further approval and signing, where appropriate.
- The forms are then submitted by the applicants affiliated state or territory association with the examination fee, to the AKR or the examining body, when final eligibility checks will be conducted.
- In the case of an AKR National Grading or an overseas conducted grading an AKR Grading Application Form (appendix 6.8) must be completed and submitted.
The application component of the examination fee is retained by the Affiliated Association hosting the grading. The registration component of the examination fee is held by the AKR Executive in the National funds and allocated to the funds managed by the relevant Board
